After the incident with the seagull, which ate the American Coot baby, it was like hope coming back to life, when we were walking near Spaarne river in Haarlem. The area with boat houses is surprisingly crowded with American Coot families, with more than 3 babies. Depending on the age of the birds, the color is fading into gray and black, but, still, some youngsters can be observed with their red fluff.
